Recently I read in Haaretz about unique problem of Mitzpe Ramon (the remote civilian town in Israel) - health problems.
Since it is about an hour driving to nearest hospital, there's a problem with births - some bear in the Ambulance and other pregnant women simply move for some weeks to the center until the baby is born.
I don't know what is about the 'Arava villages, which are also very far from the hospitals in Eilat and Beer Sheva.
In such places, home births seem the most reasonable in Israel.
