Frankly, I can't really relate to your experiences. It may be irrelevant, but when I had spent time in Switzerland, a few years ago, I found the German Swiss much more amicable than, say, the French (then again, my standard accent in English is American). The only time I had felt any antagonism relating to my ethnic identity, was when I was on a vacation in London, and a couple of local Hassidites switched to Yiddish, after hearing that my mother and I spoke Hebrew.
