Once upon a time there was in Shas a mysterious
figure called Arye Der'i. In these old days, Shas got
everything it wanted, but never had to curse the
police, nor the judges, nor the ministers. It all worked out
in the darkness of the corridors of power, and the party
slowly strengthened until it received 17 mandates. And
then Der'i was kicked out by the court. What has
suddenly happened? What was the magician's
magic? What did Der'i know to do that Yishay and
Ovadia will never learn?
Shas didn't use to have this brutal tone. Was it the
strategy of Der'i to keep quiet and work behind the
scenes? Why did this come to an end, then?
