Hoping for a normalization of non-Jewish accomplishments in Israel does not preclude the legitimacy to rejoice at the beginning... did black activists in the sixties say "no cause to rejoice for integration, we'll rejoice when having black and white kids in the same schools is an unremarkable fact"?

You're right, the ultimate goal is to normalize equality; but for now, we can be happy in the small steps that are getting us there.
