when i came to the us for the first time (first time with the F student visa), it was august. the line was long, but no annoying questions were asked. pretty smooth. last week i returned from spain, and had to give fingerprints and have my photo taken. 2 seconds. painless. plus, the immigration officer was this cute and very friendly blond girl. since i came through france, all my papers (forms i had to fill out) were in french, so i didn't fill it out completely. she had no problem with it, we had a very nice laugh, and 20 minutes after landing i was already waiting for my ride outside the airport. very enjoyable experience.
