In a similar vein, my response was humorous too, in a way
gently implying that this lady's interest in Aggression may not totally be sheerly "intellectual"

Those issues are not personal, so why
so smoothly switch to Ad Hominem?
Even if someone senses that somebody else very convincingly and forcibly advances political views contradicting his own,
he should try to improve his arguments rather than assenting in any occasion to personal attacks

The same should hold for a research
effort, even if its results and methodology do not match the ambition involved
