You have a basic misunderstanding here.
Nobody is shutting down AKUM. Unlike USA, in Israel a declaration of an organization as a monopole is not translating to an automatic shutdown. It only prompts the Monopolistic organization that the supervision on its activity will be closer from now on. AKUM is shutting itself down taking an ugly step to “Dry” out the artist financially so that they will be shouting hard enough to reverse the decision declaring them as a monopoly. We see here a cynical means by AKUM to bend the law in Israel. This act alone shows clearly the monopoly nature of AKUM and supporting the decision to declare them monopoly. Creating a competing organizations that will represent the Israeli artists will sure to benefit everybody, Artists and consumers alike, in the long run. |

The AZIT issue is different.
AZIT was granted, without any justification, public funds for its activities. The fact that they have cumulated SH 750.000 in arrears shows clearly that the complains against them are correct, namely: business mismanagement, and therefore they should be revising their operations. There is no room for government support for an organization that theoretically and practically can not loose money unless, as said above, was conducting a mismanagement business. |

The link was lost already but it was published for two days in Maarive and NFC
There it was noted that AKUM is shutting itself down! Nobody ordered its shut down act. |

Let’s make it clear, AKUM was not required to be shut off, they were not even claiming that, they have been requested to correct parts of their monopolistic behavior, nothing wrong with that.
Would you imagine that the declaration of Microsoft Company (Or IBM’s 15 years earlier) was leading to the company’s shut off? They have been required to correct their wrong doing (and pay for that during this process) is that seems to be wrong? Surprise, surprise, IBM previously and now Microsoft are working hard to correct their monopolistic behavior and paid billions in the process. The wrong is on the AKUM side that they are trying to force the government monopolistic laws using anti-democratic means instead of doing just that…Correcting their monopolistic behavior. I smell the fear on the side of AKUM that by admitting in wrong monopolistic doing may expose them to law suits. I smells the smell of money here…don’t you? Possible bad smell of crtiminal conduct is in the air as well..... |
